Democrats are now in full meltdown mode over President Trump’s third Supreme Court vacancy. They’d have us believe that a new justice shouldn’t be nominated until after the election.
THEY ARE WRONG. Fill that seat, Mr. Trump!! Preferably with a strict constitutionalist.
Presidents are elected for 4-year terms, not 3 ½. They have a Constitutional requirement to submit a nominee to the Senate for consideration. 22 of the 44 American Presidents before Trump faced one or more vacancies on the Supreme Court during an election year. All 22 of them fulfilled their duty to submit a nominee.
So it’s not like we’re in uncharted waters here. But you wouldn’t know that based on what’s happened since Friday’s passing of Justice Ginsberg:
Already, “dirt” is being thrown around about the President’s list of potential candidates. And some Democrats are talking about trying to impeach the President again, while others are threatening to “pack the court” (i.e. add more seats with liberal justices down the road) if the President and the Senate move forward.
Meanwhile, far-left activists have been protesting outside of Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell’s homes. They’ve apparently forgotten that Sen. Graham literally takes selfies in front of screaming protestors, while Sen. McConnell has been a “judge confirming machine” over the last few years. So neither of these two Senate leaders are going to be intimidated.
And let’s never forget when President Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court in 2018, Democrats bent over backwards to destroy Kavanaugh’s life and his family, all in an effort to derail his nomination. Prior to that, in 2013, they pulled the “nuclear option” in the Senate to help stack the Circuit Courts with liberal judges.
In other words, this is entirely about trying to preserve liberal activism in the courts and the continued effort to harm President Trump.
Fortunately as of this morning, it looks like there are enough senators on board to allow the nomination process to at least move forward. This is excellent news.
