Friends, we had a HUGE twenty-point victory last night. I simply cannot thank you all enough for the support and encouragement during this campaign.
While Democrats will keep control of the House, it will likely be the slimmest majority in the last two decades thanks to several key Republican victories yesterday. Through all this, there are six things I hope we remember:
I hope we all remember just how MISERABLY WRONG most of the major polling organizations have been all along. We had poll after poll, for example, showing Jamie Harrison either in a virtual tie or leading Lindsey Graham, who cruised to a double-digit win last night. That’s just for starters. Everywhere we look across the nation today, we find one illustration after another of horrible polling. This only confirms the liberal biases we all have come to suspect in most polls do, in fact, exist.
I hope we remember the incredible impact Republican women have had in this election. A big congratulations are in order to Nancy Mace, who took back SC’s 1st District from Democrats, along with numerous other non-incumbent GOP women who won their congressional districts around the nation. Closer to home, Sandy McGarry and Penry Gustafson both defeated well-known Democrat incumbents, and will make a great impact in our State House.
I hope we remember that liberal biases are WIDESPREAD throughout all levels of journalism. Their choice of headlines, their selection of imagery & video, their choice of words, the hollow points they highlight or significant facts they omit… Intentional or not, it’s very real.
I hope we remember that every campaign needs money to operate and deliver the candidate’s message. But if voters aren’t buying what that candidate is selling, then all the money in the world won’t help. Case in point: $110 million in (mostly) out of state contributions for Lindsey Graham’s opponent.
I hope we remember how important it is to get involved. Volunteer, contribute, help spread the word about candidates you support, and VOTE!
And most importantly, I hope we remember how important Republican values are to our nation. We understand why our Constitutional rights exist. We want limited and responsible government. We value our freedom & liberty. We believe in family values. And we love God, who blessed us with this great nation. If those things aren’t worth fighting for, then what is?
*** This evening, I’m heading to the airport to catch a flight back to D.C., where our work will continue. Thank you for this incredible opportunity to serve!
